DJ Mat is a glad guy. He has the jobs of his dreams. At daytime, he is a creative cameraman and journalist of Germany’s first broadcasting station ARD. After sunset, he turns into DJ MAT and throws parties in Hamburg and near the Baltic Sea nightlife.
Soulful house music, hottest 80’s club music or deep kinky house beatz. Rare disco classics. Sometimes ruff rock ’n‘ roll. Later on, after some iced drinks & a full dancefloor: fuckin‘ cool oddities you’ve never thought of.
With a birthday in 1974, DJ Mat began in 1989 as a resident DJ in the „Nautic Club“ directly on the Baltic Sea on Timmendorfer Strand. Alongside „Lars Ehehalt„, better known as „DJ Larris“ and „Helge Hinrich„, better known as „Disco Helge“ and head of the „Muschihaus“ series (german words for „Pussy House“), Mat has the four most influential years of his DJ career. Mat also collected influences from „Basti„, better known under the stage name „Lovebirds“ and part of the remixerteam „Knee Deep“ or the Hamburg Radio presenter and today Resident DJ at the annual Baltic Soul Weekender „Kenny B„.
Then Mat got the offer at the „Vogue“ Night-Club, also on Timmendorfer Strand, as the only DJ to play two years and create the music. In 1996, the club „RedZone“ was opened in Lübeck – the former Queen of Hanseatic Cities. Mat got the opportunity to create the music from the beginning and to work as Head DJ. At the turn of the millennium, Mat got the offer to start again regularly in the „Nautic Club„.
However, he then preferred to take a long-term baby break for his son Lukas Maurice. It followed several gigs in Paris (VIP Room & Orange), Berlin (Puro, Look54 & Room 265), Lübeck (Eishaus, Parkhaus, Cargo). Only ten years later, Mat was again regularly in Lübeck in the StrandSalon, at the party series “ Deka4you „, to be found monthly at the“ Tiffany Remember Club „in the DJ Booth. Also in the first years of the supraregional electro party series „Whoop Whoop“ Mat had his creative hands in the game.
